James Dean Of Indiana

Description

No. It's not James Dean, although he was quite fond of him. This title is (almost) the title of one of his last songs. The name was changed last minute because I wanted to capture him in a rare moment, a moment of triumph. Also, the rare appearance of this hat was certainly meant to pay homage to one of his heros. Phil Ochs not only had a record-sized FBI file, but was the most insistent, intelligent, sincere, and prophetic voice of American music in the 1960's folk movement (my opinion, of course). He never got the fame or the infamy he deserved, and sadly, his life was both tied directly into and mirrored his times. The only singer songwriter that has ever reminded me of him was the incredible Elliott Smith. In too many ways, unfortunately.
As this was my last finished this month, this is the last of my 30 day series, although I still have many more portraits that I want to do. I wanted to do more with it, like adding colour and background stuff. I really don't know if this is finished. Also, why are profiles so hard?

Very cool.
I discovered Phil Ochs because of this song. And now he is one of my favorite singers..
(I am sorry for my terrible Englisch, but I am still learning it.)
